How do I subscribe to an external calendar in Jira?

Using the holiday calendar as an example, I'll show you how to subscribe to an external calendar.

I found a link to the required holiday calendar on the website:

https://www.calendarlabs.com/ical-calendar/ics/76/US_Holidays.ics

These are US holidays.

Now our issues is to make a calendar in Jira that would pick up events from the source presented above.

  1. Click “Add Calendar"

  2. Click “Add Calendar Subscription"

  3. Name the calendar somehow.

  4. Paste link to ics Calendar

How to import a calendar from Google Calendar?

To export a Google Calendar, please follow these steps on your computer:

  1. Open Google Calendar in your web browser. Please note that you can't export events from the Google Calendar app.

  2. On the left-hand side of the screen, locate the "My calendars" section. You may need to click on it to expand it.

  3. Hover your cursor over the calendar you want to export and click the "More" button (represented by three vertical dots).

  4. From the dropdown menu, select "Settings and sharing."

  5. Under the "Integrate calendar" section, choose "Secret address in iCal format." This will provide you with the iCal URL that you can use to export your calendar.

Please note that this process is only applicable on a computer, not on the Google Calendar app.

If your google calendar is public, then you can use Pubplic iCal URL

In case you are unable to find your "Secret iCal URL" while attempting to connect your Google Calendar to Calendar for Jira, it's likely that you are using a non-@gmail email address with Google Calendar and have a Workspace account. However, there's a solution to this issue.

Follow the steps given below:

  1. Visit https://admin.google.com/Dashboard and sign in.

  2. Click on "Apps".

  3. Select "Google workspace".

  4. Click on "Calendar".

  5. Choose "Sharing Settings".

  6. Choose one of the options that suits you but allows you to share access to events.

  7. Now you can get your Secret iCal URL and paste it into Calendar for Jira to establish the connection.
